Neal Weaver currently files for Stage Raw and Artsinla. He has been working in and around theater for 65 years, in the course of which he has worked as an usher, a puppeteer, a movie projectionist, actor, playwright, publicist, and editor. He served as actor and director at The Playhouse, Eagles Mere, PA, The Sharon Playhouse, in Sharon, Connecticut, and The Cape May Playhouse, Cape May, NJ.

His plays have been produced Off-Broadway, Off-off Broadway, in University Theatres, and in 99-seat theatres in Los Angeles. He was stage manager for the Playwrights Unit of the Actors’ Studio in NYC, and he was founder and artistic director of the Off-off Broadway Company, The Meat and Potatoes Co., which mounted 92 productions in 12 years.

Neal began his journalism career in 1968 as associate editor, critic, and feature writer for the now defunct After Dark Magazine, reviewing theatre and film, and interviewing Lotte Lenya, Rudolf Nureyev, John Schlesinger, and Jack Nicholson. He moved to Los Angeles in 1987, and since his arrival here has reviewed theatre for LA View and Back Stage as well as the LA Weekly.

Neal has been a member of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle since the mid 1990s.
