I enjoyed most of the music, as well as the dancing (choreo by Becca Sweitzer) and acting. Best of all was the show biz setting of the story because, don’tchaknow, there’s no business like show business like no business that I know. It was good fun going back to my old hometown of New York when I was attending Broadway and Off-Broadway shows… From the dramatic to the singing (with musical direction by Gerald Sternbach), director Bruce Kimmel adeptly helms his multi-faceted story and cast. Skillfully helmed by Bruce Kimmel, APPLAUSE is a fascinating peek into the inner workings of the theater and the definition of success. The rivalry between the two principals will keep the audience on their toes. It should also be noted that there are several subsidiary themes which reflect the zeitgeist of the 1970s – and may not have yet been fully resolved. The actors do an excellent job of portraying their characters – including some energetic song and dance in a show with over a dozen dazzling numbers. Read more…
