2012 Special Awards

We are proud to announce the honorees who will receive this year’s special awards from theLADCC. Each award is accompanied by a check from a generous sponsor.

We know that the entire LA theatrical community joins us in congratulating these very special individuals and institutions.

The 2012 special award recipients are as follows:

THE TED SCHMITT AWARD for the world premiere of an outstanding new play, accompanied by an offer to publish by Samuel French, Inc.

Awarded to Evelina Fernández for A Mexican Trilogywhose world premiere took place at the awards venue, the Los Angeles Theatre Center.

THE POLLY WARFIELD AWARD for an excellent season in a small to mid-size theatre, accompanied by an honorarium funded by the Nederlander Organization.

Awarded to The Fountain Theatre.

THE BOB Z AWARD for career achievement in set design, accompanied by an honorarium funded by BitterLemons.com.

Awarded to Stephen Gifford. 

THE MARGARET HARFORD AWARD for sustained excellence in theatre, accompanied by an honorarium funded by FootLights Publishing, Inc.

Awarded to the Celebration Theatre. 

THE JOEL HIRSCHHORN AWARD for outstanding achievement in musical theatre, accompanied by an honorarium funded by an anonymous donor.

Awarded to David O.

THE MILTON KATSELAS AWARD for career or special achievement in direction, accompanied by an honorarium funded by Beverly Hills Playhouse. 

Awarded to Elina de Santos.

ALREADY-VOTED AWARDS:

Three already-voted awards will be presented on awards night.

Plaques will be presented on March 18 to the following recipients:

Adrian Kohler with Basil Jones for Handspring Puppet Theatre, in recognition of the design, fabrication, and direction of the puppets of War Horse at the Ahmanson Theatre

David McCormick and Kelly Todd for their fight direction of West Side Story at the Chance Theatre in Anaheim.

In addition, a special plaque will be awarded to Center Theatre Group for an excellent season.
